Derrick Levasseur

Derrick Levasseur (born February 3, 1984), 32, is a police officer from Central Falls, Rhode Island. Derrick was hired as a police officer at the age of 20 and has been there for 12 years. During that time, he has worked in the Detective Division, investigating crimes, ranging from motor vehicle theft to murder. Derrick has also worked as an undercover Detective in the Special Investigations Unit, posing as a college student, a drug user, and a drug dealer, just to name a few. 

         At the age of twenty-three, Derrick was involved in a critical incident where he fatally shot a man who was attempting to stab him with a knife. He received the "Medal of Valor" for his actions, the highest honor an officer can receive. Instead of taking an early pension, he returned to work and has been promoted through the ranks where he now holds the title of Sergeant of the Patrol Division.

         Derrick was selected to compete on CBS's hit series, "Big Brother", where he was eventually crowned the winner after beating out fifteen other houseguests. Derrick is regarded as one of the greatest players to have ever played the game. He is the only player out of all past winners to have won the game without ever being nominated. He also currently holds the record for the highest total earnings ($575,000) of any houseguest in Big Brother History.

        Derrick was also worked as an investigation on Discovery ID's "Is OJ Innocent? The Missing Evidence"

       Derrick Levasseur is a decorated police sergeant from Central Falls, Rhode Island. Hired at only twenty years old, he was one of the youngest officers in the department’s history and worked in both the Patrol Division and the Detective Division. He was later assigned to the Special Investigations Unit as an undercover detective, where he had the opportunity to work with the ATF, DEA, FBI, and US Secret Service, resulting in numerous arrests and seizures. In addition to his experience in the field, he has advanced training in crime scene analysis, interview and interrogation techniques, and undercover operations.     

       Throughout the course of his career, Derrick has received multiple awards, including letters of recognition, unit citations, commendations, and the Medal of Valor, which is the highest honor a sworn officer can receive. In 2017, he was the recipient of the American Red Cross “Hero Award” after saving seven people from a burning building.

       In addition to his advanced investigative training, Derrick has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in business management.

      He is the winner of the CBS series, Big Brother and has also starred in and produced ‘Is OJ Innocent? The Missing Evidence' and ‘Breaking Homicide’ and ‘CrimeFeed’ on Discovery ID. He now hosts the podcasts ‘Crime Weekly’ and ‘Detective Perspective.’

His first book, The Undercover Edge, was published in January of 2018 and and he is currently the CEO of Break Investigative Group — a private investigation and consulting firm and Criminal Coffee Company - a true-crime themed coffee that focuses on raising funds to help solve cases.
