Derrick Levasseur

Derrick Levasseur (born February 3, 1984), 32, is a police officer from Central Falls, Rhode Island. Derrick was hired as a police officer at the age of 20 and has been there for 12 years. During that time, he has worked in the Detective Division, investigating crimes, ranging from motor vehicle theft to murder. Derrick has also worked as an undercover Detective in the Special Investigations Unit, posing as a college student, a drug user, and a drug dealer, just to name a few.

At the age of twenty-three, Derrick was involved in a critical incident where he fatally shot a man who was attempting to stab him with a knife. He received the "Medal of Valor" for his actions, the highest honor an officer can receive. Instead of taking an early pension, he returned to work and has been promoted through the ranks where he now holds the title of Sergeant of the Patrol Division.

Derrick was selected to compete on CBS's hit series, "Big Brother", where he was eventually crowned the winner after beating out fifteen other houseguests. Derrick is regarded as one of the greatest players to have ever played the game. He is the only player out of all past winners to have won the game without ever being nominated. He also currently holds the record for the highest total earnings ($575,000) of any houseguest in Big Brother History.

Derrick was also worked as an investigation on Discovery ID's "Is OJ Innocent? The Missing Evidence"

Derrick shares an innovative approach to effective communication, leadership development, team building, and achieving personal and professional goals. He will outline a series of tools learned through personal experience, working as an undercover detective, and as a sergeant of the Special Investigations Unit. Some of the topics that will be discussed are:

  • Self-awareness and defining your strengths and weaknesses

  • Establishing a solid “headquarters” involving health, wealth, and family

  • Observing and understanding your “target” by creating a profile

  • Working more effectively with colleagues and supervisors

  • Leading with more confidence by understanding your team

  • Adjusting your delivery based on verbal and nonverbal indicators

  • Turning adversities into life lessons that contribute to personal growth

If you’re looking to help students prepare for college and the challenges that follow after graduation, or an organization interested in proven techniques that will assist your team in becoming better communicators and stronger leaders, “The Undercover Edge”, may be the answer. Derrick will leave your audience with a clearer understanding of who they are now, who they want to become, and what they need to do to achieve their goals.
